Type of Composition

Flush Left

  • Ragged right is best for the natural flow of words.

  • Preferred by most graphic designers.

  • It only uses left hand margins.

  • One of the ways a typewriter prints.

Flush Right

  • The text ragged left.

  • Very weak left margin disturbed the eyes.

Justified

  • It uses left and right flush.

  • It can be found in books and magazine.

Centered

  • Symmetrical in its form.

Contour

  • This is where we arrange text following the form of a logo and/or illustrations etc.

  • It creates a comfortable and desirable feeling.

  • It needs a suitable text for the arrangement format.

Run-around

  • Type is wrapped around a graphic, usually a squared photo, Pica line width changes, used in books, magazines, and annual reports. Formal look.

Shaped

  • Text arrangement according to shape line that has been constructed.

  • Your eyes will follow the flow of line text.

  • Use it for a short text. If you used it for a long text, it will become a conflict.

Asymmetric

  • The line arrangement comes out from the right and moves to the left. There is no specific arrangement.

  • It is quite difficult to read the text, so don’t use it too often. But suitable for a short text or sentences.

Concrete

  • The text arrangement patterned according to the shape of the object that is being explained. Another name for it is ‘Calligrames’. If you want to produce contrast to the design, then use this composition.

Vertical Type

  • The type is arranged vertically and is usually used for headline, book spine, book cover and signage.

  • It is usually matched with short words.

  • This composition cannot be used for articles or long text.

Inclined Type

  • Type was arranged by an alternative composition in the corner, which is rotated. Slanting over like this can give effect to target audient.

  • These types of arrangements are innovative and progressive.

  • The letters that slanting upright and to right side is more comfortable to read compared to the down wards slanting.

Readibility & Legibility

Readibility

  • Type selection should be suitable with the purpose of design.

  • Selected typography must be easily read at material printing and the delivery of
    information to be understood. Typography, which can be read, will involve the whole visualization.

  • It has close connection with symbol, photo, and illustration to produce an effective design.

  • Suitability of letters size, letters thickness is the factor that influences the material whether it is considered as material that is easily read or not. Size that is extremely small, and distance that is extremely wide influence the reading.

Legibility

  • Emphasis is given to typeface design.

  • It is referred to the whole form of visual used at each typeface character.

  • Suitability is how fast the character can be identified.

  • Speed in identifying the typeface character can assist reader to continue his reading.

  • The effect on letters physically can explain message that would like to be delivered.

Based on the article that i already read, Readability is one of the more important aspects of Web design usability. Readable text affects how users process the information in the content. Poor readability scares readers away from the content. On the other hand, done correctly, readability allows users to efficiently read and take in the information in the text. You want users to be able to read your content and absorb it easily.
